Global Wind Day observed on 15th June
Every year 15 June is celebrated as Global Wind Day. The purpose of celebrating this day is to raise awareness about the importance of wind energy. The theme of this day for year 2022 is Celebration and Appreciation of Wind Energy and its Benefits. Various events are organized by corporations and communities around the world on this day.
The first Wind Day was celebrated in year 2007 by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). In 2009 EWEA collaborated with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and made it a global program. WindEurope and GWEC have been celebrating this day together since then. In year 2012, the clubs promoted photography contests where people were encouraged tobtake the best pictures in keeping with the theme of the year.
