Dalai Lama Conferred With Ladakh's Highest Civilian Award


In August 2022, Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama was awarded the 'dPal rNgam Duston' award, Ladakh's highest civilian honour. This award has been given for the immense contribution made by him for humanity especially in the Union Territory. The award is conferred by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh. This is the sixth edition of this award which has been conferred by LAHDC, Leh on the occasion of its foundation day.

Dalai Lama

His real name is Tenzin Gyatso. He was born on July 6, 1935 in a small village located in Taksar, Amdo, Tibet. He is the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibetan Buddhism. The Dalai Lama belongs to the Gelugpa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism which is the largest and most influential tradition in Tibet.
