About The Index
The Henley Passport Index is the basic ranking of all passports in the world, which measures the number
of countries a passport holder from a particular country can travel to without a prior visa. The index wasoriginally established by Dr. Christian H. Keelin (President of Henley & Partners) and its ranking
is based on exclusive data from the 'International Air Transport Association' (IATA), the world's largest source of international travel information and provides the most accurate database.
It was launched in 2006 and includes 199 different passports. It is updated in real time throughout the year as and when visa policy changes take effect.
