Ministry of Commerce and Industry released the Ease of Doing Business ranking

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released the Ease of Doing Business rankings for the States and Union Territories on 30 June, 2022, which is based on the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) Report, 2020. In this list, Andhra Pradesh has once again topped the list. In this list, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Punjab, Telangana and Tamil Nadu

are included in the top 7. This ranking has been released for the years 2015, 2016, 2017-18 and 2019. The last time the ranking was released was in September 2020. Even then Andhra Pradesh was ranked first in terms of Ease of Doing Business. It was followed by Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.

Ease of Doing Business (EoDB)Ranking It aims to promote ease of doing business to encourage investors and ease of doing business across the country through a healthy competitive environment through a system of assessing states based on their performance in BRAP.

The parameters include various areas, such as construction permits, labor regulation, environmental registrations, access to information, land availability and single window system. Top achievers

Seven states - Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Punjab, Telangana and Tamil Nadu - were classified as 'Top Achievers' in the Ease of Doing Business ranking of states and union territories.

Achievers

Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh are the other states classified as achievers in the ranking.Emerging Business Ecosystem Six states—Manipur, Meghalaya,Nagaland, Tripura, Puducherry and
Jammu and Kashmir—were 'emerging business ecosystems'. 

Aspirant Seven states – Goa, Assam, Kerala, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Bengal – have been classified as 'Aspirational' districts. BRAP.It was launched in the year 2015. It is based on the Ease of Doing Business Index BRAP. It was introduced to encourage a healthy competition among the states.

This will help in attracting.investment and ease of doing business in each state. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has been assessing the performance of States/UTs in implementation of the reforms laid down in the BRAP exercise since 2014.
