Russia has decided to leave the International
Space Station after 2024
Russia has decided to leave the International Space Station after 2024. The decision was announced on July 26 by Yury Borisov, the newly appointed President of Russia's space agency Roscosmos. President Vladimir Putin was also informed about this. The
announcement comes amid rising tensions between Russia and the West over Russia's military crackdown in Ukraine and several rounds of unprecedented sanctions against it.
Russia and US have been working together for the space station established in Earth orbit since 1998. Yury Borisov also told President Putin that despite the decision, the space program would continue to be a top priority and that Russia would start building its own space station before 2024.
