Neeraj Chopra wins gold medal in javelin throw event of Kuortane Games in Finland
Neeraj Chopra, who created history at the Tokyo Olympics, has won the gold medal in javelin throw at the Kuortane Games on 18 June, 2022, in ongoing track and athlete competition in Finland. He won this gold medal by throwing javelin up to 86.69 meters.
It was a far less distance than Neeraj Chopra's own best, but Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal, beating Trinidad and Tobago's Keshorn Walcott and Grenada's world champion Anderson Peters.
Walcott was not far behind Neeraj Chopra, who finished second with a distance of 86.64m while Peters was third with 84.75m. Although earlier Neeraj Chopra had broke his own national record by throwing 89.30 meters javelin at the Pavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland, but there he got the silver medal.
In that event only, Oliver Helander of Finland won the gold medal by throwing 89.33m javelin, surprising everyone.
Neeraj Chopra will now try to achieve the target of 90 meters once in the Stockholm leg of the Diamond League on 30 June.
