Mohammed Jalood appointed as the new President of International Weightlifting Federation
In June 2022, Mohammed Jalood of Iraq has been elected as the new President of the International
Weightlifting Federation (IWF). He is also the first Asian to become the.President of the International
Weightlifting Federation. He.replaces outgoing Chairman Dr. Michael Irani.

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) is a permanent non-Profit organization made up of
national weightlifting federations from 192 affiliated countries around the world. The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) was established in
the year 1905, due to which it is one of the oldest international sports federations in the world. The IWF is the international federation regulating weightlifting as a sport globally. Weightlifting is one of the earliest sports to be included in the Olympic Games held in the year 1896. It’s headquarter is in Lausanne, Switzerland.
