Sandeep Kumar Gupta to be  the next chairman of GAIL

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has selected Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Finance Director Sandeep Kumar Gupta for the post of Chairman and

Managing Director of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). Gupta will replace Manoj Jain. Jain is going to

retire on 31 August, 2022. PESB Recommendation approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gupta's tenure will be till February 2026.

Commerce graduate and CA, Gupta has more than 31 years of work experience in Indian Oil Corporation. IOC is the largest oil refinery and fuel marketing company in the country. He is the Director of Finance of the IOC since 3 August 2019.

GAIL is India's largest gas transmission and gas marketing company. It has a gas pipeline network of 14,502 km and a capacity of 206 million standard

cubic meters per day. GAIL's natural gas pipeline network covers 21 states. GAIL accounts for about 70 per cent of the gas- transmission network in India and

more than 50 per cent of natural gas sales.
