  International Plastic Bag Free Day observed on 3rd July


 International plastic bag free day is celebrated on 03rd July every year. Its 13th edition is in the year 2022. This day is an initiative by Bag Free World aims to promote environmental protection by getting rid of single use plastic bags across the world and encouraging all of us to stay away from the use of plastic bags and look for more eco-friendly alternatives instead.

 The first International Plastic Bag Free Day was observed on 3 July 2008, then, it was started by ReZero, a member of Zero Waste Europe (ZWE). In its inaugural year the day was celebrated only in Catalonia. However, a year later, ZWE launched the International Plastic Bag Free Day in the European Union.

▪️ Complete ban on single use plastic from July 1

 Let us tell you that the Government of India has completely banned single use plastic from 1 July, 2022. Under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, this ban is imposed on a total of 19 items. Single use plastic refers to a single use plastic product. Single use plastic is thrown away after using it only once. These include plastic bags, disposable plastic, straws, soda or water bottles.
