Andhra Pradesh Government to start Family Doctor Project
Andhra Pradesh government has decided to implement 'Family Doctor Project' on a pilot basis in Padmanabham mandal of Visakhapatnam district.
The objective of this project is to improve health services among the rural population. This project will come into effect from 15th August, 2022.
Under the 'Family Doctor Project', a doctor from the Primary Health Center (PHC) will be made available
to look after the health of the people in the ward and the village secretariat. Doctors will visit patients who are critically ill and need prenatal and postnatal care.
However, before this, ANM ASHA workers and Mid-Level Health Providers (MLHPs) will go door-to- door to identify people who need the services of a doctor.
To implement the Family Doctor Project, training programs are being organized by the Health Department officials to train ASHA workers, MLHPs and ANMs in Padmanabham mandal for the employees already working in PHC
