Assam government gives green signal to second wildlife sanctuary in Barak valley


The Barak Valley of Assam is home to many bird and mammal species. Hence Barak Bhuban will soon be
set up as the second wildlife sanctuary of Assam. Governor Jagdish Mukhi has given his approval to the proposal of Barak Bhuban Wildlife Sanctuary. The
Borail Wildlife Sanctuary is already located in the Barak Valley.

Barak Bhuban Wildlife Sanctuary will be spread over an area of 320 sq km between Barak River and Sonai River. There are eight species of monkeys in this area, including slow loris, rhesus macaw, pig tailed macaw, stump tailed macaw, Assamese macaw, capped langur
etc.
