Assam Launches Chief Minister's  Institutional Plantation Program

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched the 'Chief Minister's Institutional
Plantation Program' on 17 July, 2022 at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati, Assam. This initiative of the Department of Science, Technology and Climate Change, Government of Assam will continue till August 15, 2022.

This tree plantation initiative will cover more than 80,000 institutional campuses of all Assam government offices, councils, urban local bodies, corporations, autonomous councils, registered
societies and educational institutions.

Underlining the reasons for the recurrence of floods and the resulting devastation, the Chief Minister described the loss of forest area as one of the major
reasons for such natural calamities and the forest department would restore the forest area through
plantation, remove encroachments and called to play a bigger role in working. The problem is being solved in coordination with the local people.
