First Khelo India Fencing Women’s League will be held in New Delhi
The First Khelo India Fencing Women’s League is scheduled to begin on 25 July, 2022 at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The first of its kind national fencing competition for women will be held in three phases till 29 July.
Tokyo Olympian and Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) athlete Bhavani Devi will compete in the senior category league in the.fencing event. She is representing the Tamil Nadu state.
Khelo India Women’s Fencing League is an open national level ranking tournament for women and also participating fencers registered with the Fencing Association of India (FAI) portal and nominated by their respective state associations.
It will be conducted in three phases. Phases 1 and 2 are scheduled in New Delhi, while the final phase will be held in Patiala.
The Khelo India Fencing Women’s League is yet another effort of the Sports for Women component of
Khelo India, which is the most essential step towards their empowerment by increasing the participation of women in a wide range of sporting events. From
providing grants to proper planning and functioning of
programs, interoperability is supported.
