Jagdeep Dhankhar to be NDA's Vice Presidential candidate

On 16 July, 2022 BJP has announced West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar as the Vice Presidential
candidate of BJP and NDA. This was announced by BJP President J.P. Nadda. The decision was taken
during the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister
Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders attended the meeting.

Jagdeep Dhankhar

Jagdeep Dhankhar is currentlybserving as theGovernor of West Bengal. He was born on 18 May, 1951 in Rajasthan. He did his early education from Sainik School, Chittorgarh. Later he completed his graduation from Rajasthan University.

He was a Lok Sabha MP frombJhunjhunu from 1989 to 1991 frombthe Janata Dal. In addition, from 1993 to 1998 he represented Kishangarh as an MLA in the
Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. From July 30, 2019 till now, he is serving as the Governor of West Bengal.

Opposition's Vice Presidential Candidate Margaret Alva

The opposition's vice-presidentialbcandidate will be Margaret Alva. After the meeting of opposition
parties in New Delhi today, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar said that 17 parties have taken this decision unanimously.

He said that Mrs. Alva will file her nomination on Tuesday. The election of the Vice-President will be held on the 6th of next month.

Mrs. Margaret Alva has been a member of Rajya Sabha four times and Lok Sabha once. She has also been the Union Minister and Governor of Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
