Karnataka Government Launches 'Kashi Yatra' Scheme

Recently, the Government of Karnataka has started the 'Kashi Yatra' scheme. Under this Kashi Yatra scheme, cash assistance of Rs 5,000 is provided to each of the 30,000 pilgrims wishing to undertake a pilgrimage to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

For this scheme, the government will use funds up to Rs 7 crore from the account head of 'Assistance to Mansa Sarovar Pilgrims', which was announced in the Chief Minister's budget speech for the financial year. Religious Endowments, Haj and Waqf Minister Shashikala Jolye said any pilgrim attending the government-sponsored 'Kashi Yatra' would get the benefit only once in a lifetime.

◾️Eligibility to apply for the scheme

The beneficiary must be a native of Karnataka, applicant must be above 18 years of age, beneficiary who has already availed the subsidy once they are not eligible.
