Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra has won a silver medal in the javelin throw event at the ongoing 18th World Athletics Championships 2022 in Eugene, USA
with a throw of 88.13m. With this Neeraj Chopra has become the second Indian to win a medal and the first Indian to win a silver medal at the World Athletics
Championships.

Earlier, India's only medal at the World Championships was bronze in long jump by Anju Bobby George in Paris in 2003. Grenada's Anderson Peters won the gold
medal in the final with a best throw of 90.54.

Recently, he broke his own national record by throwing a javelin 89.94 meters while performing at his
best in the Diamond League. Earlier, his record was 89.30 meters which he had made in the Pavo Nurmi Games and won the silver medal. On 18 June, he won the gold medal in the Kuortane Games by throwing a javelin at 86.69 meters.
