Shinzo Abe to be awarded the 'Supreme Order of the
Chrysanthemum' posthumously

The Japanese government has decided to honor former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (posthumously) with the 'Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum'. Shinzo Abe was the longest serving Prime Minister of Japan. He is the fourth former prime minister to receive Japan's highest honor under the Constitution.

The Grand Cordon of the Order was established in 1876 by Emperor Meiji of Japan. Later on 4 January,
1888, the Collar of the Order was added to it. Shinzo Abe was assassinated on 8 July, 2022, while
addressing a public meeting in the city of Nara. 41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami fired shots at him from a distance of 10 meters
