V. Pranav Becomes India's 75th Chess Grandmaster

Chess player V Pranav has become the 75th Grandmaster of India by winning a tournament in Romania. The 15-year-old from Chennai has achieved his third and last Grandmaster norm by winning the
Lympedim Open in Baia Mare, Romania.

He achieved Grandmaster Norm by scoring seven points in nine rounds. Pranav is the 27th Grandmaster of Tamil Nadu. Before him Viswanathan Anand, D Gukesh and R Pragyananda have also become Grandmasters from this state. He has won the state
championship thrice and won a bronze medal in the World Rapid Event in 2021.
