Viswanathan Anand appointed as the new Vice President of International Chess Federation

Recently India's great chess player Viswanathan Anand was appointed as the Vice President of International Chess Federation (FIDE). Outgoing president Arkady
Dvorkovich has been re-elected president for a second term. The five-time world champion Anand was member of Arkady Dvorkovich’s team.

International Chess Federation (FIDE)


The International Chess Federation (FIDE) is the governing body of the game of chess at the international level and it regulates all international chess competitions. The International Chess Federation (FIDE) was founded as a non- governmental organization on July 20, 1924 in Paris (France).  It is noteworthy that every year since 1966, July 20 has been celebrated as International Chess Day. The International Olympic Committee recognized the International Chess Federation (FIDE) as a global sporting organization in the year 1999.
