Indian Army Conducts Exercise 'Skylight' For Its
Space Based Assets
The Indian Army has tested all its space-based assets to ensure operational readiness in the five- day satellite communication exercise 'Skylight'. Defense sources
said on August 05, 2022 that the Army has also completed a study on communications, cyber and
electromagnetic effects reported during the Russo-Ukraine War. This exercise named 'Skylight' lasted
from July 25 to 29, 2022.

The Indian Army is using the services of several satellites belonging to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Stationary terminals, transportable vehicular terminals, man-portable
and small form factor man-pack terminals were tested during the exercise.

The Indian Army is closely studying the ongoing war in Ukraine so that lessons related to communication
technology can be drawn from it. In this, the entire focus of the army is on military communication and
electronic warfare. The Indian Army has learned from this war that it is extremely important to have a tactical communication system operating in enemy territory with a suitable backhaul.
