Japan Tops Asian Track Cycling Championships 2022
Japan finished the competition in the first place, winning a total of 27 medals at the Asian Track Cycling
Championships 2022 that concluded on 22 June, 2022. The Indian Cycling team won a total of 23 medals
including 02 Gold, 06 Silver and 15 Bronze in the championship held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Sports
Complex, Delhi from 18th to 22nd June. The Indian cycling team finished fifth. This is the best performance by any Indian cycling team till now.
Korea finished second with 29 medals, including 12 gold, 14 silver and 3 bronze, while Kazakhstan finished third with 11 medals, including 4 gold, 4 silver and 3
bronze.
Star Cyclist Ronaldo Singh
Star cyclist Ronaldo Singh created history by finishing second in the senior sprint event on the final day of the Asian Track Championships on 22 June. He became the first Indian cyclist to win a silver medal in a continental tournament.
Ronaldo's achievement is the best performance by an Indian cyclist in the continental championship. On
22 June, he challenged veteran Japanese rider Kento Yamasaki but could only finish second. Yamasaki
beat Ronaldo in successive races to claim the gold medal while topping the podium.
