Dr. Sushobhan Bandyopadhyay, popularly known as the one rupee doctor, passed away
Padma Shri Dr. Sushobhan Bandyopadhyay, popularly known as the Messiah of the poor and a one rupee doctor, has passed away in Kolkata on 26 July, 2022. Dr. Bandyopadhyay was battling with the kidney disease for the past few months. He was 84 years old. In the year 2020, he was awarded with the Padma Shri award.
In the same year Dr. Sushobhan’s name was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records for having treated the most number of patients. He was treating the poor for the last 57 years in Bolpur, West Bengal for a fee of 1 Rs. He has also been a former MLA from Bolpur.
