Roshni Nadar becomes India's richest woman for
second year in a row
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chairperson of HCL Technologies, one of the country's top IT companies, remains the richest woman in India. In the year 2021,
her net worth increased by 54 percent to Rs 84,330 crore.
Falguni Nair, who started beauty brand Nykaa about a decade ago after quitting investment banking, is at the forefront of self-made women with a net worth of Rs
57,520 crore. According to the report released on July 27, 59-year- old Nair's wealth increased by 963 percent during 2021.
Biocon's Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw's net worth declined by 21 per cent to Rs 29,030 crore. She is the third richest woman in the country. The Kotak Private Banking-Hurun list features 100 women born or raised in India and actively managing their own businesses.
The total assets of these 100 women included in the list increased by 53 percent to Rs 4.16 lakh crore in 2021 from Rs 2.72 lakh crore in 2020. These women contribute two percent to India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Delhi-NCR has the highest number of 25 women in the list.
