The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of guarantee
for hosting the 'Federation Internationale de Football
Association (FIFA) U-17 Women's World Cup 2022' in India.

The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022 will be held in India from October 11 to October 30, 2022. The
seventh edition of the biennial youth tournament will be the first.FIFA women's tournament to be hosted by India.

Carrying on the positive legacy associated with the FIFA U-17 Men's World Cup 2017 the country
is preparing for a momentous.moment for women's football.when the best young women's football players from across the world will perform to.show their.amazing skills to clinch the coveted trophy.

Financial Outlay

Fulfillment of financial outlay of Rs.10 crore to All India Football Federation for maintenance of playground, electricity, power and cable laying in stadium, branding of stadium and training venues, etc. will be made through 'Scheme for Support to National Sports
Federations' from budgetary allocation.

The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup is a prestigious event and will be held for the first time in India. This
will encourage more and more youth to participate in sports and at the same time help in developing the game of football in India.

Background

The FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup is a world championship organized by FIFA for female
players under the age of 17 or up to this age. The event began in the.year 2008 and is traditionally held.in even-numbered years.

The sixth edition of the event was.held in Uruguay from November 13 to December 1, 2018. Spain is the
current champion of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup India 2022 will be the 7th edition of this tournament in which 16 teams including India will participate.

AIFF has proposed to organize the matches of this competition at 3 venues- Bhubaneshwar, Navi Mumbai and Goa. India successfully.hosted the FIFA U-17 Men's World Cup India-2017 from 6 October to 28
October 2017 at 6 different venues in the country namely New Delhi, Guwahati, Mumbai, Goa, Kochi and Kolkata.
