Chamba's Minjar fair gets international status

Minjar Fair has been organized in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh from July 24 to July 31, 2022. Apart from this, Minjar fair got international status. The inflorescence of the maize plant is called Minjar. The fair got its name from that. The fair begins with offering Minjar to Lord Raghuveer and Laxminarayan.

This special Minjar is prepared by a Muslim family with silk, string, pearls and sesame seeds. After a week it is drained into the Ravi river of Chamba. The Rath Yatra of Lord Raghuveer takes place on the first day in Minjar fair and it is pulled by ropes and brought to the historic Chaugan of Chamba. Almost every village in Himachal has its own deity. About 200 deities also reach this fair in a traditional way.
