Nitish Kumar became the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 8th time, Tejashwi Yadav took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister
JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar on August 10, 2022. With this, RJD leader and Lalu Yadav's son Tejashwi Yadav has become the Deputy Chief Minister for the second time. Governor Fagu Chauhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to both the leaders at the Raj Bhavan.
This is the 8th time in 22 years that Nitish Kumar has become the CM of the state. He first became the CM for 7 days in the year 2000. Taking oath as Chief Minister for the 8th time of Nitish Kumar is a big record in itself. Even the longest-serving CM of the country has not been able to take oath so many times.
On 9 August, Nitish Kumar had announced to break ties with the BJP and join the Grand Alliance. This time 7 parties are involved in the Grand Alliance. Bihar has 243 assembly seats. That is, 122 seats are needed for majority. At the same time, Nitish Kumar has claimed the support of 164 MLAs.
