Foundation stone laid for World Trade Center in Ranchi, Jharkhand
Recently, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has laid the foundation stone of World Trade Center in the capital Ranchi with the aim of making Jharkhand a leading state in the field of exports, giving impetus to export business and providing better facilities.
The MoU was signed between JUDCO and SIDBI at the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the World Trade Center. Through this, assistance will be provided through SIDBI to develop industrial infrastructure and to set up industries in the state.
JUDCO will act as a technical and implementing agency for the execution of the project in the construction of the World Trade Center. This center will play an important role in strengthening the economic activities here. The State Government has constituted State Export Promotion Committee and District Export Promotion Committee to increase the productivity of export related activities.
The World Trade Center will have all the facilities related to international trade in a single campus. The center will house the regional office of the Directorate
General of Trade and the offices attached to the Export Council of India. Apart from this, space will be provided for companies involved in import-export. From currency exchange to money transfer facilities will be available here.
The construction of the World Trade Center will be done in collaboration with the Central and NState Governments. It will be built in 45 acres of land. Its total project cost will be Rs 44.59 crore. Here
companies doing international business will also be provided with space for display and promotion of their products.
The World Trade Center will promote the export of agricultural and food products, textiles, Tasar
products and engineering goods. .The construction of the World Trade Center will be completed in 2 years. It will have multipurpose conference hall, seminar hall,
import-export bank besides many more facilities.
