India receives two MH-60 Romeo helicopters from America
Recently, the Indian Navy has received two more MH-60 RomeonMulti-Purpose Helicopters from the US. The Navy is procuring these helicopters in an effort to enhance.its overall combat capability. With this, the total number of helicopters of this class received by the Navy has increased to five.
The biggest feature of this helicopter from Lockheed Martin Corporation is that it can be used in any weather. A total of 24 such helicopters will be supplied by 2025.These will have Hellfire missiles and lethal rocket systems.
Two helicopters were delivered to the Kochi airport on Thursday, while another helicopter is to be delivered next month. India is buying this helicopter under a deal of about Rs 15,000 crore made with the US government.
Armed with AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, Mk 54 torpedoes and advanced precision weapons, the double-engine helicopter can be operated from frigates and aircraft carriers. These planes have been brought from America to India by C-17 heavy-lift aircraft.
