Mirabai Chanu won the gold  medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022 weightlifting event

On July 30, 2022, India's eminent weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has won India's first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. She lifted a total of 201 kg in the 49 kg weight category and won the gold medal. On July 31, Indian weightlifter Jeremy

Lalrinnunga won the gold medal by lifting a record weight in the men's 67 kg category.

In snatch, Jeremy lifted 140kg, setting a new Commonwealth Games record, while in clean and

jerk; he lifted 160kg to set a new Commonwealth Games record of lifting a total of 300kg in his

category. This is India's second gold in weightlifting and 5th medal overall.
