India to participate in 17-nation 'Pitch Black' exercise in Australia

India will participate in the 'Pitch Black' aerial warfare exercise to be held in Australia from August 19 to September 6, 2022. About 100 aircraft and 2,500 military personnel from 17 countries including India will participate in this exercise. The Royal Australian Air Force considers "Pitch Black" its "capstone" international work activity with strategic partners and allied air forces.

Exercise "Pitch Black" takes place once every two years and is conducted by the Royal Australian Air Force. But due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, this war exercise is taking place after four years. The combat exercises generally take place at RAAF bases - Darwin and Tyndall - in northern Australia. This year's exercise will be seen as the return of joint forces to the Australian skies, enhancing interoperability and strengthening ties.
