Union Minister Gadkari Inaugurates Country's First E-
Double Decker AC Bus In Mumbai
On August 18, 2022, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated India's first E-Double Decker Air- conditioned Bus in Mumbai. Switch Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, has manufactured this bus.
It is known as Switch Electric Vehicle-22. The bus is equipped with latest technology, state-of- the-art design, comfortable and high safety equipment.
Emphasizing on a pollution-free India, the Road Transport and Highways Minister said that 35
percent of the pollution in the country is due to petrol and diesel. Gadkari said that the automobile industry is an important business for the country as it has immense employment potential. He said that
this industry pays the highest Goods and Services Tax to the States and the Central Government. Gadkari described the import of crude oil as one of the
main challenges that the country is currently facing.
