IPS officer Tapan Kumar Deka appointed as Director of 
Intelligence Bureau

On 24 June, 2022, senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Tapan Kumar Deka was appointed as the Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB). He will replace Arvind Kumar, whose extended term will end on 30 June, 2022. According to an official order issued by the
Personnel Ministry, Deka is currently handling the
responsibility of the Operations Wing of the IB. He has been appointed as the chief of IB for two years. He is a 1988 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre.

The tenure of Samant Goel, who is heading the intelligence agency 'Research and Analysis Wing' (RAW), has been extended by one more year.
