Filmmaker KP Kumaran honored with 'JC Daniels Award 2022'
Recently Malayalam filmmaker K.P. Kumaran has been honored with Kerala's highest film award 'JC Daniels Award 2022'. Kumaran won the award for his contribution to the Malayalam film industry. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a citation and a plaque.
The JC Daniels Award is the highest award given by the Government of Kerala. As part of the prize given
every year, the winner is given an amount of Rs 5 lakh and a citation. Established in 1992, this award is
given to honor recipients for their outstanding contribution to Malayalam cinema.
The award was created to remember the contribution of Indian filmmaker JC Daniels, who is often regarded as the father of Malayalam cinema. The award has
been conferred on 27 individuals since its inception. Film distributor and producer TE Vasudevan was its
first recipient.
